Judea

600 B.C. – A.D. 135

Judea, during this period, experienced significant changes due to conquests and foreign rule. Starting around 600 B.C., it was first conquered by the Babylonians and later came under Persian control. The region then fell to Alexander the Great’s empire, followed by the Hellenistic rulers, and eventually Roman dominance. Key events included the construction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, the impact of Hellenistic culture, and the life of Jesus Christ. The era saw Jewish resistance against foreign rule, culminating in revolts like the Maccabean Revolt and the Jewish-Roman Wars, ending with the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70 and the Bar Kokhba revolt in A.D. 135.
