Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States, serving during the Civil War. He is best known for leading the country through its greatest crisis, preserving the Union, and working to end slavery with the Emancipation Proclamation. Lincoln’s leadership and his famous speeches, like the Gettysburg Address, have made him one of the most revered figures in American history. His presidency ended tragically when he was assassinated in 1865.
