Weimar and Hitler

1919 – 1939

After World War I, the Weimar Republic was established in Germany. However, economic troubles and political instability plagued the country. In the early 1930s, Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party rose to power, promising to restore Germany’s strength. By 1933, Hitler became Chancellor and soon established a totalitarian regime. This period saw the dismantling of democracy, the persecution of Jews and other minorities, and the aggressive policies that led to World War II.
